Guy Debord, a Marxist philosopher who died in 1994, was no fan of
private property. But apparently his widow is one.

A lawyer representing the widow, Alice Becker-Ho, has threatened
Alexander R. Galloway, an associate professor of culture and
communication at New York University, with legal action. Mr. Galloway
says the lawyer has sent him a letter demanding that he stop
distributing his online war game, which the lawyer says infringes a
copyright held by the Debord estate. The French philosopher had created
a similar board game 30 years ago.

Living Theatre's Hanon Resnikov Hospitalized

The Living Theatre wants you to know that Hanon has suffered a stroke. He is currently at Beth Israel Hospital, with Judith by his side. He faces a difficult recovery with his customary tenacity.

Critical Art Ensemble's Steve Kurtz is Cleared of Mail and Wire Fraud Charges

Artist and University of Buffalo Professor Steve Kurtz was cleared of charges for mail and wire fraud today in federal court. U.S. District Judge Richard Arcara ruled that criminal charges brought against him by federal prosecutors were “insufficient on[their] face.”

Durban - Opposition to a shipment of arms being offloaded in Durban and transported to Zimbabwe increased on Thursday when South Africa's biggest transport workers' union announced that its members would not unload the ship.

SA Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) general secretary Randall Howard said: "Satawu does not agree with the position of the South African government not to intervene with this shipment of weapons.

There are some chinese army personnel staying at the Holiday Inn here in Mutare and they are moving between their hotel and the local army/police HQ.

What are they doing there? Especially at this time?

Canadian Anarchists Organizing To Halt Security Fair

A local anarchist group is threatening to shut down a massive security and
technology fair in Ottawa, but police are keeping a close eye on their plans.

The CANSEC event, which is in its 10th year, is described as a "gathering of
war profiteers" by protesters.

The Network to Oppose War and Racism and the PGA Bloc Ottawa are teaming up in
an attempt to thwart the exhibition, which is being held at the Ottawa Congress
Centre on Wednesday and Thursday.

An event posting on the PGA Bloc website is calling to "shut down the CANSEC
arms fair" and "shut down the war machine."

Anti-War Protesters Close Down Recruiting Center in Twin Cities

Eight Macalester students lashed themselves together with PVC pipes
fortified by duct tape and chicken wire while two students used U-shaped
bike locks to fasten their necks to the entrances of army and navy
recruiting centers on Washington Avenue near the University of Minnesota
campus.

Macalester Students for a Democratic Society organized the March 27
event to protest the Iraq war, one week after its fifth anniversary. A
crowd of about 100 people, most of whom voiced support for the
protesters, gathered around the spectacle. Some, who were members of
University of Minnesota's College Republicans, said the Macalester
protesters were infringing on potential recruits' right to join the
military.

Mugabe Said to Be Negotiating Possible Exit

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Advisers to President Robert G. Mugabe of Zimbabwe
are in talks with the opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, amid signs
that Mr. Mugabe may be preparing to resign, a Western diplomatic source
and a prominent Zimbabwe political analyst said Tuesday. The
negotiations about a possible transfer of power away from Mr. Mugabe
come after he apparently concluded that a runoff election would be
demeaning, a diplomat said.
